Relax, my sweet friend, YOU are in the GAME! YOU control the game! You control your destiny, your outcome, and your legacy! Believe in yourself! YOU are the BEST COACH! YOU are the BEST SPEAKER! YOU are the BEST _! (Adapted from the teachings of Bhagavad Gita). You don’t need an award to tell you that you are “the Best Coach, Speaker, Teacher, Salesperson, and/or _.” Those types of competition come from a scarcity mindset, which put limits on how many can be “the best” and/or reach “the top.” Those types of competition vibrate at a lower level of energy, “I WIN, you lose.” At a higher level of energy, we realize that “WINNING and losing are illusions”.Īs unnecessary as a well is to a village on the banks of a river, so unnecessary are all competitions/awards/honors to someone who has seen the Truth within, “I AM WHOLE, COMPLETE, PERFECT, MASTERFUL, the BEST. Too often, we buy into the message of our society that “YOU must COMPETE to be COMPLETE!” You are complete! Let me say that one more time, “YOU are complete!” You are more than what you accomplish. The good news this morning is that YOU are in the game! You are on the team! You don’t need the approval of anyone to “PLAY the GAME!” You are whole! You are enough! You don’t have to sit on the sideline any longer. We are no longer standing against a fence in the playground of elementary school waiting to be selected for a team. Relax, My Sweet Friend, You’re In the Game! We long to hear those words from the “Game Master,” or Team Captain, “Welcome to the game!” We long to hear the coach say, “Welcome to the team.” Some of us have experienced that feeling of being “the last one chosen for the team.” Some of us have been in those “tribal council meetings” and felt the disappointment when we were “voted off the island.” I’m curious, where do you look for your approval, love, significance? In “the Game of Life,” we all run around with our “game cards” searching for the “Game Master” to stamp “our card” and recognize our abilities, skills, and talents to be a player in the game.

We want to be selected, picked or nominated for the game, the team, or the competition. We long for someone, or something, outside ourselves to say, “I love you! You’re a winner! You’re important! You’re significant! You’re appreciated! You’re valued! You matter! Your life matters! Your work matters!” We want to be recognized as “the BEST” of what we do. Humans crave the love, approval, recognition, and validation of others. I’m always amused by the plethora of competition and award shows.
